This position will support the thin film solutions business sector’s growing Semiconductor Solutions business unit. The individual will be based at recently opened R&D facility in Hometown, PA.
Who you are
Primary responsibility will be development novel precursors for CVD and ALD applications. The position requires hands-on experience with characterization of precursor thermal properties and delivery to deposition tools, thin film metrology and spectroscopic techniques. The person is expected to be enthusiastic, innovative, hands on, results-oriented and a self-starter. The candidate will also collaborate with various business, technology, engineering, and operations personnel to provide technical support for successful new product introduction and commercialization.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Design and operate equipment for characterization of precursor delivery to CVD and ALD tools, including advanced spectroscopic techniques
• Design and operate equipment for in situ process monitoring and thin film characterization by infrared spectroscopy
• Characterize thermal stability of novel precursors, including decomposition by-products
• Document, summarize and communicate experimental results to both internal and external customers
• Collaborate with market managers and other technologists to understand customer needs and develop experimental plans to identify practical solutions to customer problems
• Lead safety reviews for R&D projects and support laboratory safety activities
• Aggressively develop intellectual property as related to a given project
Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD in material science or chemical engineering with at least 3 years of industrial or postdoctoral experience
• Hands-on experience with vapor deposition processes, preferably ALD
• Experience with precursor design and/or selection for deposition of metal-containing films
• Hands-on experience with FT-IR measurements of surface species and gas phase concentration monitoring by NDIR
• Experience or working knowledge with thermal analysis techniques such as TGA, DSC, TSU, ARC and thin film metrology such as ellipsometry, XRF and XRD
• Basic understanding of reactor design, vacuum technology, and experience with LabView is desired
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
